So it’s definitely been over a year now since I last posted. I’m not really sure why. Life got in the way I guess. Maybe someone told me blogging was stupid. I’m not sure. But either way I’m back. Mostly to give myself an outlet to rant and engage in some petty narcissism by posting photographs I’ve taken.
When I began this blog over a year ago, I didn’t want to have a strict photoblog…after all I have a Flickr. I wanted an outlet for rants and thoughtful writing paired with my photography. I think maybe now, even more than I could last year, that will be possible. I’ve really been pushing myself this year with my photography. I took a road trip from Portland, Ore. to Los Angeles, CA in June and documented every stop on the way. I’ve just kept going ever since, whether my work was for myself, my photojournalism class last semester or my university’s newspaper.
One of my personal goals I’ve been trying to work on the last few months has been to take a closer look at my surroundings. Now, that might seem pretty basic for photography but for me its been a drastic difference in my work and what I aim to do. I’ve been dissecting everything around me…all the layers and the minute details. Focusing on the tiniest aspect of a scene in the forest or the beach or the middle of a crowd in a demonstration and making it beautiful and compelling. Not only has it changed and shaped my photography, it’s also changed my thinking. Each day I continue to push myself to focus on the details of the big picture. The how and the why and the interconnectedness of it all.
So anyway. I guess that’s an overview of what will come in the future, be it artistic photography or photojournalism. Get excited.
Just like your car, your home comfort system needs routine maintenance to keep it running at its best. Without regular servicing, heating and cooling systems waste energy and are more likely to break down. But with the proper attention, they can keep you comfortable year-round.
Below are some basic tips to keep your system running efficiently.
Blowers
Tuning up the distribution side of a forced-air system starts with the blower. The axle should be lubricated; blades cleaned and lower motor checked to insure the unit isn’t being overloaded. The fan belt should be adjusted so it deflects no more than an inch when pressed. Every accessible joint in the ductwork should be sealed with mastic or UL-approved duct tapes. Any ducts that run outside the heated space should be insulated. On a hot-water system, the expansion tank should be drained, the circulating pump cleaned and lubricated and air bled out of the radiators.
Thermostats
While thermostats rarely fail outright, they can degrade over time as mechanical parts stick or lose their calibration. Older units will send faulty signals if they’ve been knocked out of level or have dirty switches. To recalibrate an older unit, use a wrench to adjust the nut on the back of the mercury switch until it turns the system on and, using a room thermometer, set it to the correct temperature. Modern electronic thermostats, sealed at the factory to keep out dust and grime, rarely need adjusting. However, whether your thermostat is old or young, the hole where the thermostat wire comes through the wall needs to be caulked or a draft could trick it into thinking the room is warmer or colder than it really is.
Humidifiers
A neglected in-duct humidifier can breed mildew and bacteria, not to mention add too much moisture to a house. A common mistake with humidifiers is leaving them on after the heating season ends. Don’t forget to pull the plug, shut the water valve and drain the unit. A unit with a water reservoir should be drained and cleaned with white vinegar, a mix of one part chlorine bleach to eight parts water or muriatic acid. Mist-type humidifiers also require regular cleaning to remove mineral deposits.
Filters
Most houses with forced-air furnaces have a standard furnace filter made from loosely woven spun-glass fibers designed to keep it and its ductwork clean. Unfortunately, they don’t improve indoor air quality. That takes a media filter, which sits in between the main return duct and the blower cabinet. Made of a deeply pleated, paper-like material, media filters are at least seven times better than a standard filter at removing dust and other particles. An upgrade to a pleated media filter will cleanse the air of everything from insecticide dust to flu viruses.
Compressed, media filters are usually no wider than six inches, but the pleated material can cover up to 75 square feet when stretched out. This increased area of filtration accounts for the filter’s long life, which can exceed two years. The only drawback to a media filter is its tight weave, which can restrict a furnace’s ability to blow air through the house. To insure a steady, strong airflow through the house, choose a filter that matches your blower’s capacity.

My dad’s new car is a Hyundai Tucson black 4WD. Not my taste though.
Well, u r asking my personal favorite? Ofcourse they are the red racing feraries…. Neva know when i’m gonna get one for my self.
I like to go for long drives. I used to enjoy the drives in our wagon-r and suzuki swift in udupi. But since the time dad has moved to UAE, I miss those rides. Wish I could do that someday soon inshallah. Sometimes My chachu takes us for a drive. But I am a bit scared when he drives. Not only me everyone else is scared too.
Check the pic of dad’s not-so-interesting car. (eeeww… Dunno why he chose this car!)
Last Sunday I went to Cheras for band practice, after that had lunch with my friends and we hung out at my place. At 3pm I drove my friends to her orchestra practise. I saw the car workshop just downstairs so decided to ask about my car’s aircon problem.
My car air con is not cold on hot days, but is quite cold on mornings and during night. During hot days, staying outside is cooler than staying in my car.
After some checking, the workshop boss said no problem with my compressors and hose, gas a bit less, so he said he will need to open the dashboard to do the aircon service. I asked him how much? He said RM440. I was shocked!
After thinking for few mins, I was thinking I hadn’t serviced the aircon since I bought the car, which is more than 3 years ago…. So OK la I told the boss.
The boss told me to come back tomorrow, since it was a Sunday and getting late. He would drive me to my office while my car is at the workshop, and when the car is done they will drive the car to my office. Sounds reasonable I thought to myself. I also asked him about the car battery, he is selling wet battery at RM148. GP brand. For Century, is RM158. My original car battery is Yokohama and I never replaced it since 3 years + 2 months ago, and it’s getting weak.
Later at night, I called my bf to ask him. He said it’s expensive and that I should ask more shops to compare prices. I agreed with him. So the next day I just went to office as usual.
During working, I was thinking where can I service my car aircon… I googled for it, and they were recommending going back to the Perodua’s air con supplier, Denso. I was thinking maybe going to Denso is not going to be cheap, but at least they know what they are doing and they are not going to over-charge me because their prices are fixed for all to see.
The nearest Denso is at Shah Alam. During lunch hour I went for it. Went to Federal Highway, exit at Subang Airport, turn left at Persiaran Kerjaya, made a u-turn after driving for few KMs, Denso was on my left. It was 1pm when I reach and they are closed for lunch. I waited in their office while having my sandwich for lunch. At around 1:30pm, there was a technician working at my car aircon. Later he told me everything OK, just need to do service including refilling the gas. I asked him no need to open dashboard? He said no need la, just open the drawer can already… So I just needed a normal air con service and the total bill was RM 221.50, which is so much cheaper than the earlier unknown car workshop who is most likely not sure on what they are doing.
While servicing, I asked the technician do they sell car battery? He said no, but he can get from his friends working nearby. I asked whether he can get for me and install it? He said OK… So I asked him about the price and he called his friends to check on the price. Later on he said outside brand car battery, is RM135. I was thinking that’s reasonable… So I asked how about Perodua’s Battery which is Yokohama? He said he couldn’t reach his friend. He will try later. Some time later, he came to me and said he can get Yokohama for RM115. I was happy to hear the news and instantly I told him I wanted to buy the Yokohama, since it cost around RM180 if I were to buy from Perodua Service Center.
I was happy about the deal because he installed the battery for free. The down side is I have to wait for him to pick up the battery from Perodua and he had to charge the battery there for 30 mins. So I left Denso at around 4 pm to get back to office! And finally my car aircon is cold under hot sun now.
Summary:
Denso Service Center, Persiaran Kerjaya, Shah Alam
Myvi aircon service: RM221.50 (Include gas refill)
Car Battery: RM115 (Wet type)
I am happy about this, just imagined if I went for the unknown car workshop, I would have spent RM440 + RM148 = 588, additional RM251.50. Shame on the dishonest car workshop owner!
Car magazine, sau revista Car, din moment ce exista si in Romania, s-au auto-intitulat “Cea mai tare revista Auto din Lume” sau “The world’s best car magazine“.
Si in opinia echipei AutoIQ, Car este cea mai reusita revista de continut editorial despre masini. Suntem fani si nu ne este rusine sa admitem asta. Dar ei nu fac review-uri auto, ci scriu povesti… In sensul bun al cuvantului.
A series of updates is helping BMW raise the bar with its top-selling 3-Series – and it appears one is better than two. Even though the new 335i versions of the Coupé and Convertible models have lost one of their two turbos, the power stays exactly the same.
The revamp to the Coupé and Convertible comes a belated 18 months after the rest of the 3-Series range, but proves it’s worth the wait as it includes a subtle remoulding of the kidney grille and front bumper. Hypnotising LED rings around the headlamps, plus light bars at the rear, mark out the new models stand out in the dark for the old BMW 3 series in Cardiff. Whilst inside the cabin both now come complete with leather as standard across the range.
The new 3.0-litre cars still deliver an impressive 306bhp and 400Nm of torque, but the addition of BMW’s Valvetronic technology and more precise injection has enabled engineers to ditch the second turbo. Another added bonus is that emissions are cut to 196g/km and fuel economy is improved to 33.6mpg.
With the prices rising by around £1,000 when the cars go on sale on 20 March, the Coupé starts at £27,845 for the 320i SE, while the Convertible is set from £32,905 for the 320i… a nice hefty price tag but well worth it i say!
Chatting on Office Communicator* this morning with the girl from the highways design team two floors up from me. I hit it off with her when my manager did the obligatory “this is the New Girl!” walkaround in week one. She said that “some of the Younger Ones” sometimes go for lunch so I said I’d drop her a line to find out next time they were going to the pub.
The worst thing about starting at a new job is being a Norma No Mates. Even if it’s temporary because you are The Most Sociable And Likeable Person In The Whole World. The first few days are spent talking to yourself and pretending you ‘just want to go for a walk to explore the area’ and find your way around.
So after the hullabaloo of the first couple of weeks died down a little, I sent Goomba (as shall be her new nickname for she drives a Ford Ka and they look like Super Mario Goombas) an email to effectively bully her and the design team into a lunch date in a local pub. Maybe I have no shame, but if someone displays even the slightest hint of friendliness towards me when I am new to anything, I grab it like a kid with a Chuppa Chup and hold on for dear life. Maybe it is the social equivalent of rape – forcing oneself onto others – but it works for me and has been how I have made friends in the two huge companies I have worked at.
Anyway, here we are this morning chatting online and sorting out lunch and I warn her that I had a glass of wine too many last night and out comes the smacking my alloy into a kerb story as explanation for needing something to drink. And that leads to:
Goomba [09:18]: so you’re going to pay a bloke to knock your rim back into shape? Soupy [09:18]: I’m going to pay a bloke to give my rim some much needed TLC after the bashing it took Goomba [09:19]: Ha, that should be a saying when someone is being guffy… “Cor, who bent your rim out of shape?!”
And so a new saying – and friendship – is born.
Quick game of Spot The Difference for your Friday morning:

Funding is a challenge. I need to raise £2k to do Raleigh. Sounds like a lot of money, especially when I also have to save my own money like a demon. So being frugal with my own cash whilst trying to encourage people to donate is a challenge.
Needless to say – donating through JustGiving means that all the money going to my charitable stuff goes to the charity. As does the offline money. Perhaps the Catholic guilt rubbed off on my in the 4 years I was educated by nuns.
Anyway, for the record, savings and donations are two very separate things and those lines don’t cross.
I’m also more eligible for work visas than previously thought. Can do most into my 31st year. (Canada, NZ, Oz).

“Nice” 2009-10-11 By Arshad Nuval Othman The book was in great shape and it arrived earlier than I expected. Well done!
“Best intro to statistics” 2009-07-04 By Michael M. Webb (Alexandria, VA) I am a totally none statistics trained person, however in my job I work with engineers and mathematicians that also teach statistics at the university undergraduate and graduate. The Cartoon Guide to Statistics covered the entire spectrum of what my mathematicians talk about when they identify the statistics they are using for the projects I manage. The book is on my work reference shelf as a ready reference as its explanations are very thorough. I am planning on taking formal statistics courses to do more hands on working through the formulas to have a better understanding. But going into the class, thanks to this book I will have an understanding of the principle and intent of the different parts of statistics. After reading the book I now know what my engineers mean with they say it all a roll of he dice (if this doesn’t make sense, read the book its very well explained)
“Perfect for me – probably not for everyone” 2009-03-26 By A. Bracewell (Philadelphia, PA United States) I’m in love with this book and I feel like it was written with me in mind, so if your math background and goals are anything like mine, I can’t recommend it enough.
So, here’s my deal: I’m a med student and am about to start a bio statistics course. I wanted to brush up on stat ahead of time over spring break, but I knew I’d never bring myself to read a serious stat book on the beach (especially having ADD). I’ve never taken a stat course, but my math education got as far as calculus many years ago, and I teach SAT math so I’m not too rusty on algebra. I’m also a general-purpose science nerd and feel pretty comfortable with the fundamentals of probability.
Most of the chapters started out reviewing things I already knew – for example, one of the first chapters goes over the definitions of mean and median and how to calculate them – none of which was news to me. (Ironically, even though the author probably ought to include such basic concepts for the sake of completeness, anyone who doesn’t already understand how to calculate an average is probably going to find this book too advanced). But the chapter then went on to explain how to calculate standard deviations and other more advanced concepts I’d long since forgotten at a pretty ideal level.
So, at my present math-nerd rank, some of the book was skimmable review, and most of it was exactly what I was hoping to learn presented in a way that was neither dumbed-down nor confusing.
I was afraid that the gimicky nature of a cartoon math text might go along with sloppy pedagogy, but it’s exactly the opposite. I feel like a lot of thought was put into presenting the material in the most logical way possible. It’s also ideal for visual learners like myself, since every concept is shown as a picture or graph, sometimes in multiple ways. And, of course, the cartoons make it fun to read. Don’t expect the jokes to be hilarious, but they’re cute enough to keep my attention, and that’s HUGE.
Now, here’s who I think shouldn’t buy this book: I think if you’re a serious math geek you’re going to find this book too slow. (On the other hand, a serious math geek probably wouldn’t buy a cartoon math book anyway…) While it might be useful to a geek who’s just forgotten an equation or two, you’d have to wade through a lot of cutesy stuff to find a specific bit of info.
I also think you shouldn’t buy this book if you’re a total math-a-phobe. The book assumes a fair amount of math background, and uses scary greek letters. If you’re up for a challenge, I think almost anyone can get some use from the book, but if your math skills are really lacking, you’ll have to be brave when reading it. It’s not going to hold your hand. This book plus a patient math-geek friend to fill in the gaps might get you through, though. I hate to discourage anyone from buying this book, since I think it does such a fantastic job – but you should have fair warning that it does go into moderately advanced concepts.
In short, this is a book for nerds who think math is kinda cool, are already comfortable with the basic concepts of probability, and are looking for a serious but fun crash-course in statistics. It’s also ideal for visual learners and those who find it difficult to force themselves to read prose-heavy texts.
I personally feel like I’m going to rock my bio stat class thanks to this book, and I seriously enjoyed reading it.
“Cartoon Guide to Statistics” 2009-03-11 By Janice Cagle (Alabama, USA) This is an informative, entertaining way to study and learn about statistics. Sometimes statistics can come off a little dry and boring. This gives it a different perspective and a visual way to learn about a normally dull subject. I would recommend this to anyone who is a visual learner.
“This is the way to learn Statistics” 2009-01-31 By James Larry Gonick and the illustrator Woollcott Smith does an excellent job in taking complex topics in Statistics and making it simple for the average person to understand. They do an exceptional job at explaining both Probablity and Statistical Inferences. Great book for a beginning student or a seasoned professional needing a quick review of Statistics.
When I think of a Honda; I think of an average car that teens get as a first car. Honda a brand for the middle-average man seem to be focusing on the future. With talks of a more advance car that Honda is developing, the car of the future is right around the corner. Honda is also saying the their new car will run on hydrogen or h2o. With an exterior similar to a Lambo, this car is definitely sexy! Either way the sound of hydrogen in a car already seems pretty cool. This car will help the earth and will have its competitors on their heels. Watch out Lambo!
Just for clarification, I mean a new-to-me car. I don’t think there’s much chance of me (ever?) buying a brand new car!
This one happened a lot quicker than I expected! When I wrote the list I had this one down for year two, but here I am 18 days later and I already have a deposit on a lovely 1.7 Honda Civic diesel. That’s about as technical as I can get apart from the fact it is supposed to do 0-62 in 11.5 seconds and has does around 45mpg (apparently…)
It’s also a manual car, I haven’t driven a manual for ages. I had an automatic Renault Scenic for 3 years which was bliss to drive when I had two small children bawling in the back! I drove a manual for a week briefly while my car was off the road so I’m sure it will be fine but I am slightly nervous. I’d post a picture but that would mean faffing about with deleting the numberplate and so on, but that seems slightly silly since it’s hardly an identifying piece of information…

This Estima is very original and has a full service history, Arrived from Japan as a used import, brought in by Toyota New Zealand and sold as a “Signature Class” car with only 29,000km on the odometer. It has got faded and peeling paint on the roof of the car and has other minor cosmetic dings and blemishes on the exterior. It is a fully seatbelted 8 seater people mover with a rare 5 speed manual transmission. The seating folds down into a comfortable bed formation and is an ideal vehicle for the backpaker or short term visitor to New Zealand.
The engine has a camchain, not cambelt, and are a good all round performer which has travelled a total of 125,500 kms.
It has a current wof and registration and is available to view in the Wellington region. It also has a towbar. The asking price of $4,250.00 is at the top end for this make compared to others I have seen advertised but this vehicle has lower kms and has an immaculate interior which is free from rips, tears, stains or marks.
Leave a comment below with your contact details if this vehicle is of interest to you. “No money owing to finance houses”
In this article I will take a look behind the scenes of a professional car photo shoot, one that I recently had the possibility to attend during a model shoot actually, now the model might not be interesting (however …) but the cars that were gathered were really nice, for one the white BMW 5-Series Fat Boy and a black BMW 5-Series with full Hamann Motorsport bodykit.
The first one being a white car while the Hamann car was a black one, not the easiest shades to photograph (there is no fun in shooting a red car now is there ?) so I will show you just how to take a decent shot in the first place and make it an outstanding masterpiece ready for publishing in post processing.
STEP 1 : setting up the shoot
Your first order of business is naturally to plan the shoot, you have to get in touch with the owner of the car (or owners in this case) and decide on a date, time and place you will encounter each other, note that this doesn’t necessarily need to be the spot for your shoot, most of the time a parking lot that is easily found would be best.
Once you’ve made an appointment it is time to decide on the equipment you are taking to the shoot, for starters make sure you charge all your batteries the day before the shoot, also check the memory cards you intend to use, format them inside the camera to make sure you can take as many shots as possible (after you’ve copied the photos that are still on them onto your computer naturally).
I usually take two camera bodies with me, one with a wide angle on it and the other one with the Canon EF70-200 f/2.8 IS USM for those shots where you have the space available … why such a telephoto zoom lens you might ask ? I will get into that later on.
As a wide lens I usually put the Canon EF-S17-55 f/2.8 IS USM on my Canon EOS40D, but I also pack the EF-S10-22 f/3.5-4.5 USM and the EF24-105 f/4.5 IS USM lens in the bag, just in case. Don’t forget your circular polarizing filter, a cloth (just in case) and a remote shutter control for those longer exposures.
Also think about your tripod, you might not need it, but remember that every professional car photographer will use a good tripod for the static shots, it is indispensable in fact, so take it along anyway. I also pack all my external flash units compete with radio triggers, stands and umbrellas, just in case I need some extra light to bring out the details in a shot, again you might not need these, but if you do and you’ve left them at home you’re in trouble.
STEP 2 : the shoot itself
It is really important to take your time for an automotive photo shoot, if you rush things it will show in the photographs, Rome wasn’t built in a day, and your award winning shot will most likely not be taking without decent preparation either, so make sure both you and the owner of the car have time to spend.
First decide on a location for your shoot, indoors or outdoors, it all depends on the end result you are trying to achieve, personally I would tend to take as many shots as possible outside, if weather permits, but sometimes you are forced to work indoors, and in this case those flash units will come in handy.
Flash photography on cars is a totally different technique that I will unveil in a future tutorial, so for now I will focus on the outdoor shots, make sure you’ve taken a look at my 10 tips for your first outdoor car shoot tutorial for the basics on a car shoot in daylight.
When you are looking around for a location make sure it suits the car, this black Hamann tuned BMW 5-Series was just perfect on a gravel pit with some industrial siding behind it, the black nicely contrasts with the light shaded background, take this into account to make the car ‘visible’ on the background, a dark background with a black car would be a difficult shot.
STEP 3 : photographing the car
Once you’ve decided on a place and a time (preferably in the late afternoon on a sunny, but cloudy day) it is time to start photographing that stunning looking car in front of you, so you start thinking about which angles you would like to have in your shots, this is where your relationship with the owner comes in handy.
He will have to move his car around several times during the shoot, so the better your relationship with him (or her) the better you will get away with asking him to move the car just a few inches more to get the shot you want, as it is better to move the vehicle than to take another angle in some cases.
Because you will be keeping an eye on the position of the sun (preferably on your back, remember ?) the car will have to be positioned just right so there are no harsh shadows visible when you take that award winning photograph.
STEP 4 : the angles
A lot has been said about which angles you just have to take when photographing a car, and I will repeat myself again in this section. These are the most important angles you just have to take during a professional car photo shoot : Front three-quarter shot from headlight level, Rear three quarter shot from taillight level, Full frontal and full rear view, Full side view from a low level and if possible a front and rear three quarter view from a higher level.
This latter shot might require you to bring a ladder, fortunately the location I selected for this photo shoot had some other options, I could go up a slope on one side while large containers were parked on the other side, with a ladder on the side to get on top of them. Always keep in mind that you might not be allowed to climb on top of a container, so a nice stepladder might be a great idea to add to your equipment list.
Normally I also include some interior shots in my shoot, these require some very different settings, and most of the time extra light equipment, so I won’t go into details in this article, a full tutorial on ‘car interior photography’ will be available next….

I’m always just a little scared to go against what my GPS tells me to do…it’s probably part of her plan, though, to create a need for her, a dependence.
It’s a likely story, of course; The nice British lady that lives inside the GPS box will instruct me to turn left in 500 meters, but instead, because I’ve been misled by the metric system one too many times, I turn left in 800 meters. “Turn left,” she’ll repeat, just to taunt me, though, because I’ve already committed my driving felony. “TURN LEFT!”
(See?? Scare tactics!)
Ok, she doesn’t yell, but she passive aggressively hates my guts now because I’ve gone against her instructions and it’s not the first time. “Recalculating,” she’ll say. She doesn’t care that I know a better route because they’re doing road work here. She wants me to take her route. She doesn’t care if I get a flat tire and spin out in a pot hole, because, goddammit, her route is always the best route; Nay – it’s the only route.
But it’s difficult to be sarcastic with the lady who lives in the GPS. I feel like it doesn’t even affect her. But then when I make a wrong turn? Stink eye. That’s right. My GPS gives me stink eye. Because she’s too passive aggressive to talk things out, like normal people.
Instead, I’ll be on my way to an appointment one day and she’ll take me all over the effing city because she knows that I know that the previous time I totally brushed her off. “Who do you think knows more about this city??” she thinks to herself. “You? Or fucking ME, with millions of maps and tools programmed into me to make this easier for you. You’re such an ungrateful bitch,” she thinks to herself.
She’ll never say this of course; she wouldn’t dare. Instead, she’ll make my next excursion even more of a living hell, taking me through the sketchy parts of town, waiting till the absolute last second to tell me when to turn so that I miss my exit and she can mock me while she’s “recalculating” an alternate route.
And all behind the guise of a polite, British accent… Clearly, a recipe for sabotage.
I’ve been back for about a week now. It’s taken me a while to adjust to the bitterly cold temps of the likes of 7 degrees. Ok, I’m lying I’ve NEVER adjusted. I’ve probably cursed every time I’ve stepped outside. This weather makes me positive that I’ll move somewhere warm. I’m crashing at my aunt’s right along with her 2 kids, my other aunt and her 3 kids, my daughter, my brother, and occasionally BD, and/or one or more of my cousin’s friends. That’s RIGHT. There are at least 10 people sleeping in this house every night and there are only 3 bedrooms. Figure that out. This is not my ideal situation at all considering the teenagers run the house and it usually looks like it. The pipes have been frozen in the kitchen, making having clean dishes to eat from more than hard. It’s usually kind of cold in the house too. Food disappears more than quickly too with 3 teenagers that are all over 5′ 10″ and 185 lbs in the house. Not to mention, Karma’s appetite is outrageous.
I’d leave except my family has assured me that my car wont make it back to Columbia. The transmission is going out. I’ve known this for a while but I haven’t been able to take care of that or consider buying a new one. Not to mention, my aunt used up my entire food stamp allowance for the month. I’m so frustrated by this because I went through a lot trying to avoid her doing that when I let her get the card as a Christmas present to fund her Christmas dinner. To make matters worse, there’s not much food in the house that I actually like and she was really only supposed to be getting a few items when I gave her the card. She’s given me a little money relative to the amount she spent but it’ll help me with if not take care of, my electric and cable bills (that I’d rather be using if I’m paying). I called my landlord and he was more than understanding when I told him I wont be paying my rent until I get my refund check back from school in a couple of weeks.
The food stamp thing really is annoying me because I thought about staying with my BF to give him an overdose of QT and TLC. He just moved into a new place and I wanted to be nice and put food in it lol. My being out of town was testing our relationship and it was even harder when I got back last Monday. I had made a firm decision that I’d be driving nowhere. The car he’s been driving was in the shop and BD was with me everyday. BF somehow managed to call every time BD and I were getting something to eat or out shopping. It wasn’t a good look. I spent Saturday night with my BF when he got his car back. It’s funny how much that visit did to clear our minds up. I know I feel a lot better.
The other reason the food stamp thing is bothering me is that I considered having BD follow or take me back to Columbia, Mo. for a weekend or to help me find a car. Cars are cheaper there but I have no food in my house. . I was actually thinking about selling some food stamps. The major reason the food stamp thing is bothering me though is because I start class on the 19th. I don’t get food stamps until the 22nd. While I’m going to see to it Karma and I aren’t hungry for that 3-day gap, I wanted to actually do my grocery shopping that weekend.
Right now, what’s most on my mind is my car situation. I really need a car to go back to Columbia and to get around there. I had this exact same problem last year at this time. My friends were WONDERFUL. It was a nightmare for my car to stop on me on while taking Karma to daycare in the morning. I had to carry her back to my house in the freezing cold and snow from where my car stopped up the block. I was thankful it was only a block away. The crazy thing is since I’ve been back BD has been talking about buying me a car and his car pretty much gave out on him Saturday. I have no idea what I’m going to do. Last year, I used a school loan to buy my car. This year, I have to use that loan for my rent/bills. I’m confident that things will work out in some miraculous way because they always do.
I’m happy to have left Vegas because I was miserable even though I could kind of ignore my reality and the temperatures were about 40-50 degrees higher. I’ve been miserable at times since I’ve been in St. Louis but honestly the 10 of us (that’s hilarious to type out) are getting along pretty damn well to be sharing not much space. All of this reality though is really making me feel like I’m definitely back in St. Louis. But I’m sure I have a miracle waiting for me. So, I’m not tripping. I’m going to do all that I can and not stress.
Sam went to the Doctor for his 18th month appointment in December (I know, I know, its January and I’m behind…)
Sam was 32 inches long, and weighed 25 pounds. He got lots of shots, which he did not like, including his second shot of H1N1.
He impressed the doctor by taking his socks off himself. The doctor said, “What would REALLY be impressive is if he could put them on.” Sam tried to put them on, but could not make it work.
The doctor asked about how many words Sam could say. I said “about 20.” His favorite being “CAR” which he loves to yell out when he sees cars at while riding in the car, or really, whenever he sees a car. He also says “bus” “no more” and “no” choo choo” “ben” and “snacks” (pronounced by him as nacks.)
Sam got a good report. The doctor recommended introducing the potty to him – giving him a potty to sit on if he wants to. So now Sam has his own potty, which he sometimes sits on and sometimes put toys in. What’s that phrase, “babysteps?”

Plans for tours of Hanoi by electric car QĐND – Friday, January 08, 2010, 19:0 (GMT+7)
The district of Hoan Kiem in central Hanoi and the Dong Xuan Joint Stock Company will introduce two inner city tours using battery-charged electric cars.
The city tours are designed to take visitors around places of interest in Hanoi’s old quarter, according to the developers.
The first tour will travel through the trade streets and the capital city’s biggest wholesale and retail market at Dong Xuan while the other will visit streets renowned for their cuisine as well as craft streets, historic temples and pagodas.
Twenty battery-charged electric cars will be initially imported from China to use on the tours, said the Dong Xuan Joint Stock Company, adding that they hope the tours will start running in the first quarter of this year.
* Shopping around. You can find a number of insurance companies in your locality, and you can start checking them out one by one. After which, compare their quotes and fine prints. By doing so, you will know who provides the best rates on this specific insurance policy.
You might think acquiring a policy with the best comprehensive coverage but with the least premium amount may be impossible; however, this is likely. That is why, aside from getting quotes from the local insurance companies, it will be a good idea too to search the internet as online websites can provide multiple quotes you need. There are even those that provide comparison tool allowing you to get quote from one company and another from another company.
If the rate however is too low, always be aware that it can probably too good to be true. Closer investigation then is warranted in this situation. Do more researches so you don’t end up putting your money on a policy that has lower protection value than what you are paying for.
* Looking for discounts specifically targeted for teenagers. Some insurance companies offer discounts to teen drivers who have good academic performances, who no longer live with the parents, who are sent off to a university distant from residence, and those who are attending defense driving courses.
These factors indicate how responsible they are, making the insurance company believe they are worthy of lowered policy premiums. In that case, you might want to encourage your teens more to be good at academic performances or lure them to attend driving education courses.
Combining their insurance policy to your car’s insurance policy is a key to savings too.
* Giving your teen a more sensible vehicle. This could mean choosing low-risk cars over flashier sport-utility vehicles, sports cars, and luxury cars. Since it is not a hidden fact that teenagers are not responsible drivers than the matured ones, it is a wise idea to shop them a good, old passenger car or sedan.
If they insist on getting more expensive automobile, it would be wise of you to commit them to an agreement that they would be the ones paying the policy premiums. This would give them reason to be more careful and clean on their driving records.
So, don’t worry about auto insurance for teens being expensive. Just remember the above ways and you can still attain huge auto insurance savings. free carinsurance

Has anyone ever come to the conclusion that cars are not designed with convenience or efficiency in mind? All automobiles have tailpipes which spew unbreathable exhaust in the outward direction. It might seem, or apparently is an industry standard, to have the exhaust pipe face outward out the rear of the car. Unfortunately in bumper to bumper traffic or at stop lights this causes the fumes to spew out into the intake vents of the car behind, thus filling the car behind with exhaust, unless the venting system is in the ‘closed’ position.
Some of these cars have the exhaust pipe on the curb side and some on the ’street’ side (it was almost even according to a quick survey I took through Google Images.)
I’m wondering if there isn’t some reason the exhaust pipes on all or many autos couldn’t be aimed out the side of the car in the back on the street side. This would also eliminate the joyousness of standing on the curb as a pedestrian and having an automobile exhaust pipe spew smoke at you.
Michael says, “You get two for one in this photo. I was sitting in the booth when I looked out the window and saw the car parked in backwards and out of the lines! I had my SLR, so I walked out and snapped away. When I came back in my friend told me ‘I think that is the guy’s car over there, because when you walked out to take the picture, he got up and was staring at you!’”
Before the founder of our church was called home to the Lord, he was a minister of another church in a different location.
One night he was walking towards his car after church service when he noticed some trouble with his car. He then saw several men walking towards him and he assumed they were in the process of offering him some assistance. Unfortunately, they began to stab him with their knives as he tried desparately to protect himself by using an instrument to ward them off.
Just then my late pastor looked towards his car and sawan ANGEL opening his car door motioning for him to get in. Although his attackers were trying desparately to kill him, he managed to get in the car and close the door.
Needless to say he made it home and his wife took him to the doctor. Miraculously, the stab wounds did not puncture his organs and he survived. The Lord gave him a promise and he accepted gladly by building the church that we now call Detroit World Outreach.
God will move heaven and earth to send his Angels to help you when there isn’t any one else around!
